ABOUT ME

My name is Rannveig Bjork Gylfadottir (nick name; Rannsy) and I have always been interested in photography and arts in different forms.

My profession for the last years is an oncology cancer nurse specialist, and I am a certificated mindfulness teacher.

Mindfulness and meditation training have been my anchor in life, helped me being more present and learn to slow more down and be more pro-active instead of reactive.

Learning more about self-acceptance and self-compassion has helped me grow as a person, being both kinder and show more compassion to self and others. The common humanity is the main key there, we are all part of this world, so we ought to look more into what unite us instead of what tears us apart.

I've always been interested in photography, learning more about it the recent years, by reading, watching, doing, experimenting and by participating in different courses and workshops. I have just started studying Creative Photography at "Ljosmyndaskólinn" a photography school in Reykjavik, Iceland.

I have always been extremely interested in psycho- and social aspects of humans and philosophical things, like the big question of the meaning of life. This interest and my background reflect through my pictures, which are often conceptional, abstract and impressionist, often made with ICM. My biggest muse is the Nature, and I am drawn to water in all forms (ocean, waterfalls, and lakes) and all its surroundings. I am attracted to beautiful light, shapes, patterns, colours and different atmosphere of all seasons. I love intimate pictures of the Nature. I photograph mostly in Iceland, where I live, but I need in between to travel and discover more places abroad.

When I make my photographs, you could say that I most often go into flow state, which you could call moving meditation, which gives me lot of energy, calm, joy, and happiness. My aim is that my works reflect my feelings and to evoke feelings, thoughts, and emotions within the viewer.

My photographs are created in the camera then I make basic adjustment mainly in Lightroom and sometimes in Photoshop.

Feel welcome to look around in my portfolio and visit my social links. If you want to make fine art print enquires in limited edition or have some questions about collaborating, please fill out the contact form and I answer as soon as possible.

Warm wishes,

Rannsy
